also very likely that you were changing your motor oil and before you knew oil
stains were adorning your cotton button-up. There can be a multitude of
scenarios that may arise when oil stains conjugate with cotton shirt. It is
very probable that you get so devastated by these unsightly stains that you

However, before you decide
you take any such step; follow the simple procedure given below. This effective
home remedy will definitely remove greasy oily stains from your cotton shirt
and make it as good as new.
Method (Using talcum powder and liquid
laundry detergent)
The following method is extremely
simple and has guaranteed successful results. The ingredients which it deploys
are usually present in every household. Therefore, follow the steps given below
and get rid of any nasty oil stain that your shirt might have incurred.
Things that you will require:
·
Liquid
laundry detergent
·
Towel
or absorbent pad
·
Talcum
powder or corn starch
Steps that you need to take:
1.
First
of all what you have to do is place the shirt on some clean towel or absorbent
pad. Take care that the stain should be on the up side.
2.
Next,
sprinkle some talcum powder on the oil stain. It has the capacity of absorbing oil;
therefore it can help in the stain removal. If talcum powder is not available,
then corn starch can also be used in its stead as it has similar properties.
3.
Leave
the powder or the starch on the stain for 24 hours almost so that it has ample
time to absorb the oil from the stain.
4.
Afterwards,
brush off the powder from the stain.
5.
However,
if you feel that powder is stuck to the oil stain with some oily residue, then
brush that powder off with your fingers, and repeat the above mentioned process
until no oily residue is left behind.
6.
Then,
once you are sure that the oil is gone wash the stain with liquid laundry
detergent and rinse with cool water.
7.
Later,
launder the cotton shirt as you usually do. For laundering it, make use of hot
water.
8.
Make
sure that oil stain has gone before you put the cotton shirt in the dryer;
otherwise heat from the dryer might set the stain further.
Tip:
1.
You
can also use dish washing soap on the oil stain as it has a grease-cutting
quality and tends to be useful in the removal of oily stains.
2.
If
the stain on cotton shirt still doesn’t go, then try using rubbing alcohol.
However, check the alcohol on an indiscreet area of the cotton shirt for
color-fastness, prior to its application on the stain.
