Vomit stains can easily be considered as the most terrible ones, since they ruin your clothes. A weird stench accompanies them which gross you out. At times if left untreated for a long time, removing these stains can become an arduous task. However, luckily there are tips which would enable you to get rid of these gross stains without having to discard away the fabric. So it is time you get over your gag reflex, put on your gloves and armor and start battling these annoying stains.
Method One (for old vomit
stains)
Things that you will require:
·
container
·
cold
water
·
baking
soda
·
lemon
juice/vinegar
·
dish
washing detergent
Steps that you need to take:
This method is particularly useful for
old vomit stains. Follow all the
steps given below and eventually end up with a vomit-free, entirely clean
garment.
1.
Primarily, you have to take some cold water in
a container, or rinse the stain with cold water. This would dampen the stain,
making its removal easier.
2.
Now
add a liberal amount of baking soda over the stain. The application should be
in such a manner that it totally covers the stain.
3.
After
leaving the baking soda on the stain for some time, almost ten to fifteen
minutes; pour lemon juice or vinegar over it.
4.
Citrus
present in lemon juice or acetic acid of vinegar would react with the baking
soda. As a consequence, this mixture of baking soda and lemon juice/vinegar
will begin to fizz. Once this fizzing starts, start rubbing the stain with your
fingers.
5.
If
treating this vomit stain with bare hands nauseates you, then you can always go
for plastic gloves.
6.
Keep
rubbing the stain until its maximum amount gets out.
7.
Now,
again rinse the fabric with cold water, making sure that all traces of baking
soda and vinegar solution are washed away.
8.
Afterwards,
take some dish washing detergent and rub it on the stain. If any remnants of
the stain are still left, then continue rubbing it with the dish washing detergent.
9.
Hopefully,
the stain will have been gone by now, yet if it happens to be stubborn or if
you are apprehensive about any other set-in stains, then soak the cloth in cold
water for an hour or half and then wash it like you normally do.
Precaution:
Always use cold water while
treating vomit stains. This is because warm water further sets in the protein
stains.
If the vomit stains are
fresh you can adopt the following method for their removal.
Method
two (for fresh vomit stains)
The
following method is comparatively simple and works well with fresh vomit stains.
Things that you will require:
·
Cold
water
·
Blunt
knife or spoon
·
Liquid
laundry Detergent
·
Pre
wash stain remover
·
Plastic
gloves
Steps that you need to take:
1.
For
fresh stains, primarily what you have to do is remove the excess vomit from the
stain as much as possible. This chore might be very grossing, yet you have to
do it. So buck up yourself, get some plastic gloves and a dull knife, squeeze
eyes, scrunch up your nose and scrape off the vomit.
2.
Rinse
the stained area and its back with cold water and apply a pre wash stain
remover.
3.
Let
the stain remover set in for some time. This remover might be available in the
form of a stick, gel or spray.
4.
Afterwards
wash the fabric with liquid laundry detergent.
Tip:
Bleach could also be used in conjugation with stain
remover. Yet make sure that you go for a color safe one, so that your clothing
doesn’t get damaged.
Has it ever happened that
while travelling, you got sick? The feeling itself was dreadful indeed, yet the
most gruesome part was that you had your favorite jumper on which your mom had made for you last
Christmas, and it got covered in sickly vomit stains. Now you are in a fix.
What to do so that these horrible stains can be removed effectively without
harming the fabric? Keep your panicky nerves at bay because fortunately there
are some effective tips to handle the situation.
