How to remove Grease Stains from pan

Burning greasy food, or just grease in general leave very ugly looking stains on a pan. No matter how much you try to wash it, they won’t get removed unless you have hours to sit and scrape them off. The best way of dealing with grease stains is to take immediate action. In case you can’t be prompt and the stains are left for a long period of time, the grease hardens and no amount of heating and cooling would help remove it.

Grease stains need a proper pre-wash treatment if you want to get rid of them. Here are some methods for you to follow in order for a success grease stain removal from a pan. The methods are simple and easy to follow and results are astounding.

Method 1 (Using Baking Soda & Vinegar)

This method is very popular among those who handle grease food and have to clean grease stained pans. The items required are easy to find in a kitchen.

Things that you will require:

·      Vinegar

·      Baking Soda

·      Scrubbing pad

·      Sponge

·      Liquid dishwasher

Steps that you will need to take:

1.   Drop in a few drop of water onto the grease stained pan. Make sure it isn’t too wet. Sprinkle enough baking soda on the stains so that they are completely covered in it. Let the baking powder remain on the stains for about 30 minutes. This will loosen up the grease.

2.   Use the scrubbing pad to scrape off the softened grease. Use the sponge to remove the scraped off grease.

3.   If there is still a thin layer left, drain the pan of the water in it and moisten the grease stains with vinegar. Now sprinkle the stains with baking soda again and wait for 15-20 minutes. This should get all the grease to loosen up. Repeat step 2.

4.   Use the sponge to remove all the grease. Rinse the pan and use the liquid dishwasher to scrub off any leftover grease stains. The pan will be as good as new.

Method 2 (Using Ammonia)

This method has proved successful in cases involving a small sized pan which isn’t made of aluminum. Ammonia is readily available at a chemist’s shop and the process is easy to follow.

Things that you will require:

·      Ammonia

·      Plastic bag

·      String

·      Cleaning towel

·      Gloves

·      Dishwashing liquid

·      Scrubbing pad

Steps that you will need to take:

1.   Put on gloves before attempting this method.

2.   Soak the cleaning towel with ample amount of ammonia and cover the grease stains inside the pan.

3.   Put the pan in the plastic bag. Using the string tightly fasten the mouth of the bag. This will ensure that ammonia vapors don’t escape.

4.   Leave the pan in the bag for twenty four hours. The result will be that the grease will loosen up, making enough room for you to clean the stains.

5.   Use the scrubbing pad to remove the access grease, and rinse the pan.

6.   Now pour some more dishwashing liquid and wash the pan as usual.
