How to remove Grass Stains from white clothes?

Grass stains on white clothes are a nasty business because they don’t come out just as easily as one would expect. Doing laundry directly will only lighten the stains and in some cases might not even do that and on white clothes the stains will be very prominent as well as unappealing.

Adults and kids both may get these stains while playing sports. You will be stuck with the time consuming job of cleaning the grass stains if you don’t take care of them immediately after they have appeared on the clothes. We have found the best methods for you so you don’t have to waste extra time on them later when they have set in. You can adopt any one of the following methods to remove grass stains from white clothes.

Method 1 (Vinegar Solution)

Vinegar solution is for those stains that have appeared recently on the clothes. Remember that this method is for a pre-wash treatment. It will make sure that the stains go away before you actually do the laundry because usually doing laundry directly will not clean the stains. The items required are very easily available and so it won’t be very hard to clean the grass stains from white clothes.

Things that you will require:

·         Sponge
·         Cold and warm Water
·         Empty bowl
·         Vinegar (fruit based)

Steps:

1.    Mix one part vinegar and half part water in the empty bowl.

2.    Soak the sponge in the vinegar solution and apply onto the grass stains on white clothes. Let the stains soak for about an hour. This will lighten the stains. Rub the stains with hand.

3.    Once the stain removal is successful, wash out the vinegar solution with cold water. Put the clothes in the laundry now so that any leftover stains can be removed.

Method 1 (Rubbing Alcohol Solution)

This method is very effective for pre-wash treatment as well. It will lighten the stains so that they don’t set it deeply and doing laundry will clear these stains right out.

Things that you will require:

·      Rubbing alcohol
·      Sponge
·      Cold water

Steps that you will need to take:

1.   Dip the sponge in the rubbing alcohol and apply to the grass stains on the white clothes. As the alcohol might evaporate soon it is best to dip and apply it a few times.

2.   Leave the alcohol in for five to seven minutes, making sure that the stains don’t dry during this time.

3.   Rub the grass stains with hand or use a tooth brush. This will lighten the stains making them ready for laundry.

4.   Wash the clothes with cold water to get all the rubbing alcohol out and then throw the clothes in the laundry making sure you use cold water for it as well.

Method 3 (Bleach and Hydrogen Peroxide Solution)

The bleach and hydrogen peroxide method should only be used when you have exhausted all other methods and they have failed to work on the stubborn grass stains on your white clothes. The items used are strong and will leave your clothes looking brand new. You might have to go out to buy the hydrogen peroxide but since it is easily available, it won’t be a problem.

Things that you will require:

·      Hydrogen Peroxide
·      Bleach (used for clothes)
·      Water
·      Gloves
·      Tooth brush
·      Empty bowl
·      Vinegar solution (equal parts of water and Vinegar)

Steps that you will need to take:

1.   Add equal amounts of bleach and hydrogen peroxide to the empty bowl. Now add three times the amount of each ingredient of water.

2.   Soak stains into the solution and leave it for about five minutes. Wear the gloves and by using the tooth brush, gently rub the stains.

3.   By this point the grass stains would have either lightened or completely removed. If they haven’t completely been removed, take an empty bowl and add equal amounts of vinegar and water in it.

4.   Using cold water, wash the stained area and dip it into the vinegar solution for 5 minutes. By this point the stains will have completely washed away.

5.   Rinse out all the vinegar solution with cold water and put the clothes in laundry.

6.   Make sure that the clothes are air dried at the end of the process.
