How to Remove Hard Water Stains from Car Windows

Often, after a rainy day, you notice that although the water has dried white outlines or deposits of rain droplets on your car windows have appeared. These white deposits are hard water stains that have formed after water containing a high mineral content has evaporated, leaving the minerals behind. The longer these stains are left on the car window, the harder they get, making them more and more difficult to remove. Read below to find out how you can get rid of these ugly hard water stains that have appeared on your car windows.

                                                           

Method One (Using White Vinegar)

Things that you will require:

·         Bucket

·         White vinegar

·         Water

·         Sponge or soft, clean cloths

Steps that you will need to take:

1.   The first step towards the removal of hard water stains from your car windows involves the making of the required cleaning solution. To do so, pour 1 part water in a bucket, and add 2 parts white vinegar to it. Mix the two ingredients completely.

2.   Now, dip a sponge of a soft, clean cloth in the bucket, and apply a generous amount of the solution on the stains.

3.   Leave the solution in place for 5 minutes. This will allow vinegar to act on the stains, loosening and eating away the minerals from the surface.

4.   Start rubbing the hard water stains gently after 5 minutes. Keep doing so till all the stains are removed. Be careful. You do not want to damage the glass window.

5.   If the stains are stubborn, repeat the above process.

6.   The next step involves removing the cleaning solution from the car window. You may use a garden hose. Otherwise, you may also empty the solution from the bucket, fill it with plain water, and clean the window with a soft, clean cloth soaked in water.

7.   Dry the windows completely. Wipe them dry with as many clean rags as required.

Method Two (Using Toothpaste)

Things that you will require:

·         Clean cloths

·         Water

·         Toothpaste

·         oooo or ooo Steel wool

·         Window cleaner

Steps that you will need to take:

1.   To start off, firstly, rinse the stained area with plain water. Do so with either a garden hose, or a clean cloth soaked in plain water.

2.   Apply a bit of your household toothpaste on a wad of steel wool.

3.   Next, start polishing the stained area with it. Move from one small area to another area, rubbing it gently in a circular motion. The toothpaste works well on fresh stains.

4.   Repeat the above process till all the Hard Water Stains have been removed.

5.   Next, you will have to clean the toothpaste from the car windows. To do so, use a regular window cleaner on the car windows. Follow the instructions on the package of the window cleaner.

6.   When finished, make sure you dry the windows completely. To do so, use a clean cloth.

Method Three (Using Baking Soda)

Things that you will require:

·         Baking soda

·         Water

·         Bowl

·         Soft, clean cloths

Steps that you will need to take:

1.   It will surprise you to know that a simple solution of baking soda can be used for something like cleaning hard water stains from your car windows. The first step requires you to make a cleaning solution out of baking soda and water. To do so, put a bit of baking soda in a bowl, and add as much water as required to make a cream like paste.

2.   Now, apply this paste on to the stains with a soft, clean cloth.

3.   Rub the paste on the stains gently to remove them. Do so till all the Hard Water stains have been removed.

4.   If required, repeat the above process.

5.   To remove the paste from the car windows, rinse it with plain water with either a garden hose, or a soft, clean cloth soaked in plain water.

6.   Dry the car windows completely with a clean cloth.
