How to Remove Mold from a Toilet tank

Toilet is a very sensitive place and keeping it clean and tidy is very important for the overall hygiene of yourself as well as your family. You may clean your toilet tank daily with detergent and water but you may have seen that it has failed to work the way you wanted it to clean it. You may call professional cleaners to clean your toilet tank but it can prove to be quite an expensive option. The best thing you can do is to implement methods that are easy to use, require materials that are cheap and easily available and you yourself can clean it using those methods. One of such methods for the mold removal from toilet tank is explained below.

Things you will be required:

·       Bleach.
·       Water.
·       Vinegar.
·       Baking soda.
·       Brush for toilet tanks (specially designed for toilet tanks).
·       Bowl or cup.

Steps:

1.   Your first step should be that you turn off the water coming into your toilet tank. If you do not know how to do that then there will be a valve beneath your toilet or on the sides. You move it in the clockwise direction and you will hear the water flow stopping. To empty the water from the tank you can flush multiple times before you go on cleaning it.

2.   Mix one part of bleach to three parts of water into a bowl or cup and mix it well to make a perfect solution.

3.   If you do not have bleach than you can make a vinegar solution as well. You have to mix one part of vinegar into three parts of baking soda with enough water and mix it well in a cup or bowl.

4.   Apply it on the stained area for ten to fifteen minutes which ever solution you have made and scrub it with the help of a scrubbing brush for toilet tanks.

5.   You may then rinse the tank by flushing it with clean water. Check if the mold appears or not, if some mold stains is still there you can repeat the process and flush again and it will be shinning by this time.

6.   Do not forget to open the valve again to allow the water to come back again.

Tips and Warnings:

1.   Wear gloves when cleaning toilet tanks.

2.   Use a soft bristle brush as hard one can lead to scratches.

Mold spores are everywhere and they are a part of nature. However, when mold starts to grow in large quantities inside your home, it can be a serious health hazard. In order to ensure the safety of your family, it is important to have a mold inspection done by a professional. During a Mold Inspection, the inspector will look for signs of mold growth and assess the severity of the problem.
