How to remove Chocolate stains from upholstery




You had a party at your home and you were cleaning your home when your eye suddenly went over upholstery which you noticed was full of chocolate stains. Never was your upholstery this messy as it was now, full of stains that the kids have made a mess of it.

Or there is some other scenario in which your car upholstery got messed up when your kids spread all his chocolate on it; you have no other option but to clean your very new car.


Well you do not have to worry much about it as these stains are very common and you are not the only one who is going through such stains. So there are numerous ways through which you can get rid of such stains and free away your depression. These methods are mentioned below.

Method 1 (Using Neutral Detergent and Ammonia)


Things you will be required:

·      Ammonia.
·      A cup.
·      Water not necessarily running water.
·      Table spoon.
·      Neutral detergent.
·      Tea spoon.
·      Sponge.

Steps:

1.   If the chocolate is dried up scrap off it with the help of a knife. If it is wet you can remove the excess chocolate by using spoon.

2.   Mix around one tea spoon of neutral detergent into lukewarm cup of water and mix it well. A neutral detergent is the one which do not contain alkalis or bleaches. Apply it on the stains with the help of white towel and blot. Move from outwards to inwards.

3.   Then mix one tablespoon of ammonia into cup of water and mix it well. After this apply on the stain and blot it in the same way as did in step 2.

4.   After that carefully sponge with clean water and blot with the help of clean towel.

5.   You will notice that the chocolate stain will be completely removed.

Method 2 (Using Carpet Cleaner Spray)

This method is suitable for upholstery fabric which is not water safe

Things you will be required:

·      Dull knife.
·      Soft small brush.
·      Carpet cleaner spray.
·      Sponge.

Steps:

1.   Allow the chocolate fallen on the upholstery to harden. It is easier to remove the hardened chocolate than a fresh one. In summers chocolate takes a long time to harden, so in that case you can use ice cubes which will help you in this regard.

2.   When the chocolate is hardened scrap all the hardened chocolate with a dull knife. Make sure that the knife should not be sharp as it may destroy your upholstery.

3.   Then spray very carefully and not excessively, carpet cleaner spray on the stained area.

4.   Leave it for ten minutes.

5.   With a small soft brush gently rub the stain area where you sprayed for five to six minutes maximum.

6.   After that, with a wet sponge you can wipe the area and by doing this you will find no further Chocolate Stains.

Method 3 (Using Dish washing liquid)

Things you will be required:

·      Dish washing liquid.
·      Cold water.
·      Sponge

Steps:

1.   As already discussed in the method 2 that it is easy to remove the hardened chocolate than fresh chocolate, so let the chocolate to dry.

2.   Use your finger nails or the back side of spoon to scrap of hardened chocolate.

3.   Mix dishwashing liquid in a cup of water to form a soapy solution.

4.   Apply soapy solution on the stain area by using spongy and blot it.

5.   Dip a clean sponge in cold water and wipe for at least five minutes on the stain area after which you will find no more Chocolate Stains on the upholstery.

6.   Blot the area with dry paper towels.

                             
Method 4 (Soap Solution)

Things you will be required:

·      Soap solution like shout.
·      Water.
·      Dry towels.

Steps:

1.   Rub a dry towel on the stain area to rub away any dust or chocolate particles which can hinder in the cleaning process.

2.   Pour some soap solution like shout on the stain area making sure you do not soak the area.

3.   Leave it applied on for ten minutes.

4.   Use dry towels to wipe the area.

5.   Find your upholstery perfectly clean and tidy and free of Chocolate Stains.


Tips and Warnings:

1.   Please ensure that neutral detergent has no bleach or alkalis as it can be harmful for the very purpose.

2.   If lukewarm water is not available then room temperature water will also work but cold water will not do justice to the mixture.

3.   The knife should not be sharp as it can destroy the upholstery.

4.   Make sure that the carpet cleaner brush is soft enough.
